the strangest creatures call eyedrum home
I saw one.
I walked quietly to where it hid.
It wasn’t a tiny mouse at all.
It was tiny.
It was a tiny lizard.
All stripey and pretty.
Not a blue-tailed skink
like the one on my front porch
Nor the green gecko with the rosey dewlap
that blows up that lives in the holly.
The size of a large spider, the tigrish reptile.
Too bad I had to step on it.
It was just so cute.
I’m mean that way
